About Us
Who is Protect St. Pete Beach?
St Pete Beach residents make up the Protect St Pete Beach Advocacy Group. Some of us have a long history of generations calling St Pete Beach home. Some have lived here for multiple decades, raised children, owned businesses, served on city boards and committees and others of us are new to the community.
St Pete Beach is about 7 miles long with less than 9,000 residents and thousands of people who visit monthly. We have our challenges like any community, and we are committed to “One Beach, One Community” and supporting efforts that maintain and improve the quality of life in SPB.
We believe residents have a responsibility to ensure our community prioritizes environmental stewardship, preserves our history and family friendly atmosphere. We support quality investment and development that enhances and preserves our community for generations to come.
What Are Our Goals?
St Pete Beach is one of the last remaining Florida beach towns that isn’t a wall of concrete high-rise hotel towers and resorts. We are one of the few remaining beach towns with full-time residents living in it, and that isn’t a 24/7 spring break nightmare.
We envision St Pete Beach as a magnet for high-quality development and redevelopment projects that beautify our community for the mutual benefit of residents and visitors alike, without increasing traffic, congestion, demands on infrastructure, or threatening wildlife and natural resources.
We recognize that St Pete Beach’s infrastructure and businesses need investment to attract the quality of tourism that will appreciate our unique small-town charm, history, and simple beauty. We welcome development and businesses partnering with our community towards this end.
Residents pay 80% of the taxes that fund our community, Therefore, we are fully invested in seeing that our elected officials and appointed leaders make decisions and approve projects that prioritize residents over developers.
We attend bimonthly commissioner / board meetings and voice concerns. We communicate with residents to apprise them of the issues facing our town and empower them to express their opinions to our elected officials.
Quality Over Quantity
We recognize that St Pete Beach’s infrastructure and businesses need investment to attract the quality of tourism that will appreciate our unique small-town charm, history, and simple beauty. We welcome development and businesses working towards this end.
